This program is the first of its kind here in Africa. Our goal is to bring together the Insurance and the Private Investigator Industries with knowledge, training and experience. Insurance companies require their internal employees to have a certain level of education and knowledge on the topics of insurance fraud and investigations.  Insurance companies have and will be utilizing private investigators for a large percentage of their field investigations today and in the future. Africa’s insurance market is growing by leaps and bounds. With that comes a large increase in claim investigations. Therefore, they are now requiring the private investigators to have a base education on these topics. Private investigators will be looked upon as an extension of the insurance company’s fraud and investigative teams.

This program was developed by Insurance Fraud and Investigation Professionals from the United Kingdom, Africa, India and the United States.

The CPII Certification program requires you to complete this self-study On-Line Training within 12 months of your enrollment. The certification program consists of 18 individual course topics within 45 on-line modules/chapters.  Each training course contains a final exam which requires you to pass with a 70% or better to move onto the next course. If you do not pass the exam, you will be required to go back over the course and re-take the exam prior to continuing on.  Upon completing the final on-line course and passing the exam, you will be able to immediately print your CPII Certificate of Completion.

Upon successful completion, you and your investigation firm/company will be entered into the CPII Investigator Database. This database will list all CPII Investigators by Mail Code for insurance companies to locate. This database is only accessible to the insurance company’s fraud teams. Every two (2) years, you will be required to complete the Annual CPII Refresher On-Line Training Course to maintain your professional designation and to remain active within the CPII Database.

The Insurance Crime Bureau estimates that in 2019 up to 20% of the R35 billion paid out on short term insurance claims could have been fraudulent. If correct this means that in 2019 alone the South African short-term insurance industry lost almost R7 billion to fraud.

It is clear that there is need for certified Private Insurance Investigators in South Africa – “Money lost to the pot by insurance fraud compromises the ability of insurers to indemnify – or make good – the claims of those who have loyally paid their premiums for years and genuinely suffered loss.”
